EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon Track Club Elite’s Nijel Amos continued his winning ways in the 800 meters on the Diamond League circuit in Rabat, Morocco on June 16.

The 25-year-old Amos used a sustained kick on the home stretch to edge in front of Kenya’s Emmanuel Korir for a hard-earned victory – 1:45.57 to 1:45.60. It was the third 800m win of the outdoor season for the Botswanan, who won a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics.

EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon Track Club Elite’s Sally Kipyego celebrated a return to prominence at the USATF Women’s 10K Championships in New York City on June 8.

The 33-year-old Kipyego was competing in her first national championship as a U.S. citizen, and nearly two years after the birth of her daughter, Emma. She placed third overall in a stacked field of 27 elite distance runners with a time of 32 minutes, 35 seconds.

EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon Track Club Elite’s Hanna Green established a personal best by nearly three seconds in the 1,500 meters at the Music City Distance Carnival in Nashville, Tenn., last Saturday (June 1).

Green, a second-year pro out of Virginia Tech, placed seventh in the tightly contested race with a time of 4 minutes, 6.66 seconds. Her previous best of 4:09.33 was set earlier this season.

The top seven competitors in the race finished within 1.42 seconds of each other.

EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon Track Club Elite’s Drew Piazza and Hanna Green are both scheduled to compete in the upcoming Music City Distance Carnival at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn.

Piazza is entered in the 800 meters on Friday (May 31), while Green toes the line in the 1,500m on Saturday (June 1).

Piazza comes into the meet with an 800m season best of 1:47.74 which he set at the USATF Distance Classic in Los Angeles on May 16. He established his PR of 1:45.69 in 2017.

EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon Track Club Elite’s Nijel Amos notched another decisive victory in the 800 meters this season at the IAAF World Challenge in Nanjing, China on May 21.

Similar to his 800m win at the Diamond League meeting in Doha earlier this month, Amos took control down the homestretch as he crossed the finish line with a time of 1:44.38, a mere nine-hundredths of a second (.09) off his world-leading mark of 1:44.29.

EUGENE, Ore. – Six members of Oregon Track Club Elite opened their 2019 outdoor track and field seasons by competing at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif., on April 19.

EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon Track Club Elite’s Hassan Mead made his outdoor season debut with a fifth-place performance at the 34th annual Carlsbad 5000 in San Diego on April 7.

Mead, a 2016 Olympic finalist in the 5,000 meters, crossed the finish line in a time of 14 minutes, 3 seconds. It was his first competitive race since August of 2018.

EUGENE, Ore. – Most years, Oregon Track Club Elite athletes migrate to the high desert climes of Flagstaff, Ariz., for several weeks of altitude training.

This year, 11 of the 14 athletes on the OTC Elite roster are currently living and training in Flagstaff, along with head coach Mark Rowland and team physiotherapist David Campbell.
